Position Overview

We have exciting opportunities for both mid-level and senior Data Scientists to join our dynamic modelling team. These hybrid roles are based in Bristol, offering a competitive salary range of £50k - £85k, depending on experience. Reporting to the Head of Data Science & Modelling, you will play a pivotal role in developing and operationalizing our proprietary stochastic cyber risk model and sophisticated data ingestion systems.

Key Responsibilities

Model Development and Operation: Design, develop, refine, and execute our stochastic cyber risk model, ensuring accuracy, performance, and scalability.
Data Analysis: Perform complex data analysis to extract insights and identify trends in cyber risk, utilizing a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques.
Operationalization: Translate model insights into actionable strategies and tools for internal and external stakeholders.
Automated Ingestion System Development: Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated data ingestion pipelines, integrating advanced machine learning components to enhance data processing and analysis capabilities.
Collaboration: Work closely with underwriters, engineers, cyber risk analysts, and other team members to integrate the cyber risk model and data ingestion systems with other processes.
Innovation: Stay updated with the latest developments in data science, cyber security, and risk modelling, incorporating innovative techniques and technologies into our models and systems.

Qualifications

Experience:
Mid-Level: At least 3 years of experience in data science or data engineering roles, with a focus on developing complex data ingestion pipelines and operationalizing models.
Senior Level: At least 5 years of experience in similar roles, with a proven track record of operationalizing complex models and analytics.
Education: A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees (MSc or PhD) are preferred.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in applied machine learning, probability, statistics, and quantitative risk modelling.
Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, PySpark, and Databricks.
Experience with big data technologies and tools.
Familiarity with modern NLP techniques and tools.
Proven ability to create and manage data quality metrics and dashboards.
Experience working in agile software development processes and using Git for version control.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the insurance sector and its data challenges is highly desirable.
Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and a collaborative spirit.
