Monday to Thursday 07:00pm – 05:00am & Friday 07:00am – 01:00pm + overtime

The Work Shop are delighted to be recruiting for a Metal Pipe Fabricator/Welder for a well-established company based in a rural location based on the outskirts of Romsey. Our client is seeking an experienced and BS4872-1 certified pipe welder.
The Metal Pipe Fabricator/Welder will undertake a skilled engineering role to achieve a quality end product by primarily producing all aspects of coded Steel Welding Pipes to BS 4872-1 standard using MIG for mild steel and TIG for stainless steel.
Main duties of the Metal Pipe Fabricator/Welder
• Working from engineering drawings to construct, Steel pipe spools, plastic Tanks and Vessels, plastic pipe assemblies.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and production work orders.
• Create and use templates and jigs for fabrication.
• Fabricate, assemble, reshape, rework, and repair steel and plastic products.
• Mark out pipes and sheets using measuring and marking instruments.
• Use various cutting, drilling, bending, and welding tools to construct pipe spools.
• Assemble steel and plastic components by using various welding and jointing techniques.
• Carry out welding inspection and testing.
Key competences of the Metal Pipe Fabricator/Welder
• Coded to BS4872-1 standard for both MIG and TIG welding for Carbon steel and Stainless steel
• Good awareness of using hand tools and hand power tools and be able to operate workshop tools and equipment
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and accurately measure and mark out components for Steel fabrication and Welding whilst working within the standards
• Proficient in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, thermoplastic) and skilled in using hand and power tools, precision measuring tools, and equipment such as drills, grinders, saws, and pipe benders.
• Experienced with hot air and propane gas torches, and capable of operating a forklift and overhead crane, training will be provided.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to follow instructions effectively.
• Owner Car/ motor bike driver is essential due to location.
Overnight & shift Work
Our client will require you to perform a reasonable amount of work outside your normal hours which is classed as additional overtime, and dependant on the needs of the business. Overtime work is paid at enhanced rates of pay according to the duration.
