Mechanic / MET Technician
Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
No Weekend Working
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanic / MET Technician to join an established and busy accident repair centre in Chesterfield.
Our client is looking for a mechanically skilled technician who is confident carrying out engine repairs, diagnostics, servicing and general mechanical work, alongside MET (Mechanical, Electrical and Trim) duties.
This position would suit an experienced MET Technician with a background in mechanics, or a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic looking to move into accident repair and develop their MET experience.
You do not necessarily need to have worked in an accident repair centre previously, provided you have strong mechanical knowledge and are confident carrying out vehicle strip-and-fit work.
The Main Purpose of the Role

Carry out mechanical repairs, servicing and maintenance on a variety of vehicles.
*
Diagnose and repair engine faults, including mechanical and electrical issues.
*
Undertake engine-related repairs and component replacements.
*
Use diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve vehicle faults.
*
Remove and refit mechanical, electrical and trim components as part of accident repairs.
*
Strip and refit bumpers, headlights, interior trims and other vehicle components.
*
Carry out repairs and replacements to suspension, steering and other mechanical systems.
*
Identify additional damage or mechanical issues during the repair process.
*
Ensure all repairs are completed safely and to the required quality standards.
*
Work closely with other technicians to ensure vehicles progress efficiently through the workshop.
What We Are Looking For
*
Previous experience as a Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, MET Technician or Mechanical Technician.
*
Strong mechanical knowledge, particularly around engines, diagnostics and general repairs.
*
Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment and fault-finding tools.
*
Confidence removing and refitting vehicle components.
*
Previous MET or accident repair experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
*
Ability to work independently and complete repairs to a high standard.
*
Good attention to detail and a practical, problem-solving approach.
*
A relevant automotive qualification would be advantageous.
