Job Purpose

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care to individuals with complex mental health conditions. You will support service users to achieve their personal goals, manage risks, and live as independently as possible within a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide high-quality, person-centred care in line with individual support plans and risk assessments

* Support individuals with complex mental health needs, including those who may present behaviours that challenge

* Promote independence, recovery, and social inclusion through structured support and engagement activities

* Assist with daily living tasks, including personal care where required

* Use de-escalation techniques and follow positive behaviour support strategies to manage challenging situations safely

* Accurately document care delivery, incidents, and progress in line with organisational and CQC requirements

* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, families, and external agencies

* Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control policies

* Support service users in crisis situations with a calm and professional approach

Essential Requirements

* Experience working within mental health, complex care, or a similar care setting

* A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable individuals

* Strong communication, emotional resilience, and problem-solving skills

* Ability to work flexibly, including shifts, weekends, nights, and bank holidays

* Understanding of person-centred care and professional boundaries

* Commitment to ongoing training and professional development

Desirable (Not Essential)

* PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) training

* CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training

* MAPA (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression) training

* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards)

* Previous experience within private care, supported living, or specialist mental health services
