£92 - £105 per day | Full-Time | September Start

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain exceptional experience supporting children and young people with complex additional needs before pursuing a career in Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health?
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Assistant to join an outstanding specialist school supporting children and young people aged 3-19 with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The school is renowned for its nurturing approach, specialist facilities and commitment to helping every pupil achieve greater independence and success.
As a Mental Health Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require personalised support with communication, emotional regulation, social development and daily learning activities. You will become part of a highly experienced multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing an enriching and inclusive educational experience.
The successful Mental Health Assistant will have the opportunity to support pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping them develop confidence, independence and essential life skills. With access to specialist learning environments, sensory facilities and a diverse curriculum, no two days will be the same.
The Role:

Supporting children and young people with a range of complex learning needs
Working as a Mental Health Assistant to promote emotional wellbeing and positive engagement
Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction and independence skills
Assisting with sensory-based and practical learning activities
Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and families
Working alongside teachers, therapists and specialist support staff
Encouraging confidence, resilience and personal development

Ideal Candidate:

Psychology Graduate or graduate from a related field
Aspiring Clinical Psychologist, Educational Psychologist, Therapist or SEN Specialist
Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
Patient, resilient and empathetic
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Previous experience working with children or vulnerable individuals is desirable
