Furnace Operator / Melting Operative

Reed Engineering & Manufacturing are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading engineering and manufacturing company who are looking to recruit a Furnace Operator / Manufacturing Operative to join their growing production team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, safety-conscious individual with experience in industrial manufacturing environments, furnace operations, or heavy material handling processes. In return, the company offers a highly competitive salary, excellent benefits package, and a performance-related bonus of up to circa £4,300+ per year on top of your salary.

Key Responsibilities

Support the operation of industrial furnaces including melting processes
Prepare charges, mix materials, and load furnaces safely and efficiently
Carry out crucible, refractory, and mould preparation activities
Operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks for material movement
Load and unload heat treatment furnaces
Complete quality documentation and maintain accurate production records
Conduct furnace cleaning, routine maintenance, and housekeeping activities
Adhere to all health, safety, quality, and environmental procedures
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production areaSkills & Experience Required

Previous experience within a heavy manufacturing, foundry, metals, forging, heat treatment, or furnace environment
Experience operating or supporting melting, heat treatment furnaces, or similar industrial hot working processes
Overhead crane and/or forklift truck experience is advantageous
Strong commitment to health and safety
Ability to follow procedures and quality standards accurately
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
