Title: 4 Medical Secretary

Location: Enniskillen

Duration: Temporary, 3 months initially with possible extensions. Full time, 37.5 hours per week. Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

Salary: £12.86 per hour.

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Band 4 Medical Secretary to provide a secretarial and support service to the consultants and other medical professionals.

Core Responsibilities include:

* Accurate input of patient and medical details/information

* Make up case notes for all new patients and maintain efficient filing systems.

* Contact GPs for outstanding blood results, ECGs or other medical investigations.

* Forward requests for further info eg CT scans, pet scans.

* Access results via online facility and take responsibility for passing on information to relevant medical staff.

* Deal with telephone and other enquires from patients, members of staff and GP’s and implement the appropriate course of action in each case.

* Set up clinics and ensure all pertinent information/results are available for consultant/nurse.

* Type and send out appointment letters. Phone patients in advance to inform of what purpose of appointment is, who they are seeing and any other instructions.

* Manage and validate waiting lists in line with the Trust’s Integrated Elective Assess Protocol.

* Draft and type correspondence, reports, results letters, clinical letters, discharge letters etc.

* Co-ordinate/arrange case discussions and meetings. Record minutes.

* Prioritise incoming mail and take appropriate action where necessary, process outgoing mail to GP’s.

* Collate and present appropriate data on the service to monitor activity and performance.

* Participate in appraisal and supervision, and assist with training of new staff.

Essential criteria:

AMSPAR Medical Secretaries Diploma or equivalent qualification AND 2 years’ experience in clerical/ administrative role in a Clinical setting*

OR

4 GCSE’s (Grades A-C) including English Language or equivalent qualifications AND 2 years’ experience in clerical/ administrative role in a Clinical setting*

OR

3 years’ experience in clerical/administrative role in a Clinical setting*

In addition to one of the above:

1 years’ experience in the use of ICT. This should include word processing, Audio Typing, spreadsheets and emails

Other requirements:

* Confidentiality

* Use of your own initiative

* Time management/organizational skills

* Ability to work in a team

* Knowledge of Medical Terminology

* Knowledge of Computer/IT Systems
