Astute's Power Team are working with a large Biomass facility located in Lincolnshire and are recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to join their Maintenance Department.

As Mechanical Technician you will be to providing front line maintenance at the facility and be responsible for all aspects of the safe, compliant, and efficient maintenance on the mechanical equipment and systems on site.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Technician role:
As Mechanical Technician, reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

Carrying out daily planned maintenance activities and any emerging / reactive works.
Complete fault finding, diagnosis and repairs of the plant which include gearboxes, valves, compressors, pumps, fans, boilers etc
Undertake measures to improve the plant reliability, efficiency, and performance of the plant proactively, always in a safe and efficient manner.
Maintain the site CMMS and record all historical works undertaken.
Supervise 3rd party subcontracts on all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
Complete health and safety paperwork following company guidelines.
Provide technical support to the fuel handling and operations team for the plant when required.?
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

A relevant technical qualification such as a City & Guilds Level 3/Apprenticeship in an engineering discipline.
At least 3 years' experience in a Maintenance environment on a Power Station/Heavy Process Plant. This could be Energy from Waste, Coal, CCGT, Biomass, CHP, Nuclear, Petrochemical etc.
Ideally an IOSH or NEBOSH.
Personal skills
The Mechanical Technician role would suit someone who:

At least 5 years' experience in a similar position on a power station or similar plant. This could be Energy from Waste, Coal, CCGT, Biomass, CHP or Nuclear. Similar Heavy Process Industries will be considered (Papermill, Refinery, Petrochemical etc)
Experience on heavy mechanical equipment such as Conveyors, Valves, Gearboxes, Pumps, Steam Raising equipment etc
Ability to manage contractors
IT literate
Able to work at heights
