Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join a brand new team at NG Bailey, dedicated to supporting a flagship building at the University of Bristol. This is a rare chance to be part of something from the very beginning – we’re mobilising a brand new site and building the team from the ground up, so you’ll play a real role in shaping how we deliver here.

Working a days-only shift pattern with 1 in 3 weekend working, you’ll be responsible for delivering planned and reactive mechanical building services maintenance across this high-profile site. Whether your background is in plumbing, HVAC, M&E, or general mechanical maintenance – if you bring hands-on technical ability and a commitment to great service, we want to hear from you.

 

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include: 

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical building services plant and systems, in line with SFG20 and agreed programmes

Responding to reactive faults and completing minor works, ensuring all tasks are completed within contractual SLAs and KPIs

Working with pipework, pumps, boilers, cooling towers and water treatment systems, with BMS knowledge a bonus

Maintaining accurate records, job sheets and compliance documentation via the client’s CAFM system

Building strong day-to-day relationships with the University team and on-site FM partners, delivering exceptional customer service

Working safely at all times in line with risk assessments, method statements and NG Bailey health and safety standards

 

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a hands-on, reliable technician who takes pride in delivering a high-quality service. You don’t need to come from a specialist background – what matters most is that you have solid mechanical or M&E experience, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a growing team. You’ll be client-facing, so good communication and a professional manner are just as important as your technical skills. Some of the experience we’re looking for includes:

 A background in mechanical building services, M&E, plumbing, HVAC, or general mechanical maintenance

Experience with mechanical plant including pipework, pumps, boilers or cooling towers

Mechanical City & Guilds (Part 1 & 2), an apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification (preferred but not essential – we’re open to equivalent experience)
