If you’re a Mechanical Supervisor who wants to work on a proper data centre project rather than another standard commercial plantroom job, this is a strong opportunity.

You’ll be working on a live Camberley data centre project, supporting the delivery of works across an existing critical environment with mission-critical operations, data hall space, refurbishment areas and future capacity expansion.

This is not a simple new-build project where everything happens in isolation. The site needs proper planning, careful coordination and a Mechanical Supervisor who understands how to keep installation moving safely in a controlled data centre environment.

The role

You’ll oversee the day-to-day mechanical operations on site, making sure mechanical systems are installed, coordinated, tested and handed over in line with project requirements, safety standards and client expectations.

The project is expected to involve data hall works, refurbishment areas, critical cooling infrastructure, chilled water systems, pipework, pumps, valves, plantroom equipment, ventilation, CRAC / CRAH units, pressurisation, flushing, pressure testing, commissioning support and associated handover documentation.

This role needs someone who can manage labour, coordinate subcontractors, maintain quality, keep accurate records and support the wider project team through installation, commissioning and close-out.

What you’ll be doing

Supervising and coordinating mechanical operatives, subcontractors and specialist suppliers on site.

Making sure mechanical installations are delivered safely, correctly and in line with drawings, specifications, RAMS and project standards.

Overseeing mechanical works across data halls, plantrooms, refurbishment areas and associated critical infrastructure.

Coordinating chilled water, pipework, ventilation, cooling systems, pumps, valves and mechanical plant.

Supporting commissioning activities, including flushing, pressure testing, witness testing, snagging and handover.

Carrying out regular inspections and quality checks to make sure works are installed to the required standard.

Liaising with project managers, engineers, commissioning teams, electrical teams, client representatives and subcontractors to keep the job moving.

Managing access, permits, materials, deliveries and day-to-day site coordination.

Maintaining accurate records, including QA documentation, progress updates, test records, snagging information and handover packs.

Supporting health and safety procedures, site audits, permit-to-work requirements and live environment controls.

Representing the business professionally with internal teams, clients, subcontractors and third parties.

Maintaining client confidentiality and following project procedures around data protection, information security and site access.

What you’ll need

You’ll need proven experience supervising mechanical works within data centres, critical environments, M&E contracting, commercial projects, live buildings or technically demanding building services schemes.

Data centre experience would be a strong advantage, especially if you have worked around chilled water, critical cooling, plantrooms, CRAC / CRAH units, pipework, ventilation, flushing, testing and commissioning.

You should be confident reading technical drawings, managing labour, coordinating subcontractors and dealing with practical site issues before they affect programme.

You’ll need a strong understanding of mechanical installation standards, site safety, QA procedures, permit systems and client requirements.

Experience supporting commissioning and handover in a live or controlled environment would be very useful.

You’ll ideally hold SSSTS or SMSTS, CSCS and a recognised mechanical qualification or strong trade background.

The right person

You’re organised, practical and hands-on.

You can walk the site, see what is happening, understand what is not ready and make sure people know what needs to happen next.

You do not need to be micromanaged. You know how to control a workface, keep standards high and push progress without creating unnecessary noise.
