Hands-On Mechanical Maintenance Role, Keep Train CET Systems Safe and Fully Functional!

We’re looking for a practical, hands-on professional to join a fast-paced rail company, specialising in fault-finding and repairs to CET tanks and associated equipment on trains in service.

What’s on Offer:

You do not need any previous experience in the rail sector, making this a great opportunity for anyone with a mechanical maintenance or engineering background looking to start a career in rail.

You will undergo specialist training such as personal track safety training (PTS) and fleet engineering competencies, ensuring you are safe working in a live rail environment and understand the systems you will be working on.

A Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00 working pattern provides consistent hours and a strong work-life balance, whilst earning £19.75 per hour. Train passes will also be provided for travel to and from in-service maintenance call outs across the network.

What the role involves day to day:

Travel across the rail network to call outs for mechanical issues reported on trains in service.

Fault-find, diagnose and repair CET tanks and associated equipment.

Repair leaks, valves, pumps, pipework, fittings and other mechanical components.

Carry out reactive and preventative maintenance safely and efficiently.

Managing tools, parts, and stock efficiently and reporting further maintenance requirements.

Operating across the train fleet in a mobile, field-based capacity.

Who we’re looking for:

Experience in mechanical maintenance, mechanical fitting, engineering or a similar hands-on environment.

Comfortable fault-finding and repairing mechanical equipment.

Good health, safety and quality attitude.

Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work alone or in a team.

Previous rail experience and PTS certification desirable but not essential – full training provided.

What’s in it for me:

This is an opportunity to join an exciting industry without needing to have had previous experience and utilise your existing mechanical skills that will open up more doors as your career progresses.

Join a supportive, fast-paced environment where every repair you carry out makes a tangible difference to the safe and reliable operation of passenger services.
