Description:

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Service Engineer with experience of rotating equipment to join our client. This is a hands-on role working both in the workshop and on customer sites, with strong earning potential and opportunities for development. You will be joining a diverse and supportive team ranging from apprentices to experienced engineers. The company places strong emphasis on teamwork, trust, and health and safety, and expects a professional approach at all times from the appointed Mechanical Service Engineer.

This Mechanical Service Engineer with rotating equipment experience role reports to the Machine Shop Supervisor and involves working on the service, repair, and inspection of precision engineered equipment. Duties include stripping, inspecting, repairing, and rebuilding equipment, carrying out site-based inspections, producing reports, interpreting engineering drawings, and using precision measuring equipment. The role involves both independent work and working as part of a team, with regular travel to customer sites across the UK. This is a Monday to Friday days' based role with overtime available on a voluntary basis, typically at weekends and during peak periods.

The Mechanical Service Engineer role requires regular travel and working away from home. Hotel accommodation is provided where travel exceeds reasonable daily commuting distance. Company vehicle and fuel card provided. Personal vehicle use is not required. The salary is generous and includes premium overtime which can be taken as pay or time off in lieu. There are good benefits too with a market leading pension scheme, annual pay reviews, flexible working opportunities, company credit cards for expenses, and company-funded social events.

Candidates should have experience working with complex precision engineered equipment (pumps, valves, heavy engineering, machine tools, special purpose machinery, etc.) and have been around a machine shop / traditional engineering environment, be able to read engineering drawings, and be competent using precision measuring tools. A solid grounding in engineering practice is essential. A willingness to travel and work away from home is essential, along with a full UK driving licence. This role suits someone flexible and motivated by varied work and strong earning potential. It is not suitable for someone seeking a strictly local, fixed-hours role with no travel.
