Freelance Mechanical Project Manager – Wastewater Projects

Location: North Wales (multiple project sites)
Contract: Freelance (CIS) with the opportunity to become permanent
Rate: £450–£550 per day (CIS)

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join our team on a freelance basis, delivering a portfolio of new-build wastewater infrastructure projects across North Wales. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven project manager seeking a long-term contract with the potential to transition into a permanent position.

You'll take ownership of multiple mechanical projects from pre-construction through to commissioning, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable delivery while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

The Role

As Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

* Managing multiple new-build wastewater treatment and pumping station projects across North Wales.

* Planning and delivering projects safely, on programme, within budget, and to specification.

* Coordinating site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist contractors.

* Managing procurement, project programmes, and resource allocation.

* Monitoring project costs, commercial performance, and reporting progress to senior management.

* Liaising with clients, consultants, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

* Ensuring compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements.

* Supporting commissioning activities and successful project handover.

About You

You'll ideally have:

* Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within the water or wastewater sector.

* Experience delivering new-build wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, or process mechanical installations.

* Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple live schemes.

* Commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets.

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

* A proactive approach with strong problem-solving ability.

* Full UK driving licence.

Preferred Qualifications

* HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).

* SMSTS.

* CSCS Card.

* First Aid at Work.

* IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
