Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Blackburn
Salary: £45,000 basic salary
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm | Friday, 8:00am-3:00pm
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
ES Recruit are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join an established manufacturing business based in Blackburn.
This is a varied, hands-on position responsible for ensuring plant, machinery and site equipment are maintained to a high operational and safety standard. You will support production through planned and preventative maintenance, breakdown response, fault finding and continuous plant improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and preventative mechanical maintenance across plant and equipment
Respond to machinery breakdowns and carry out effective fault finding and repairs
Maintain pumps, valves, mixers, motors and associated mechanical equipment
Ensure servicing and maintenance schedules are completed and kept up to date
Identify inefficient or obsolete equipment and recommend improvements
Support plant improvement and reliability projects
Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing and maintenance activities
Manage contractors and ensure safe systems of work are followed
Ensure Permit to Work procedures are correctly adhered to
Complete job-specific risk assessments
Assist with maintaining site facilities, security and fire prevention measures
Liaise with production, process engineering and management regarding plant requirements
Skills & Experience
Mechanical Engineering qualification
Previous experience within a mechanical maintenance role
Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Experience maintaining pumps, valves, mixers and motors
Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices
Ability to prioritise maintenance requirements within a busy manufacturing environment
Experience with compressed air, thermal oil, hot water and steam systems would be particularly beneficial
