Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Darley Dale | Salary: Up to £52,000
12-hour shifts | 6am–6pm / 6pm–6am | Days & Nights | 3-Week Rolling Pattern
We’re recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established heavy manufacturing business in Darley Dale.
This is a hands-on role working on heavy industrial machinery within a busy, high-volume production environment, with a strong focus on reliability, safety and minimising downtime.
Key Responsibilities

Planned, preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance.
*
Fault-finding and repair of heavy production machinery.
*
Working with conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, hydraulics and pneumatics.
*
Stripping, overhauling, repairing and rebuilding mechanical equipment.
*
Responding to breakdowns and minimising production downtime.
*
Carrying out inspections and identifying potential equipment failures.
*
Supporting machinery installation, modification and commissioning.
*
Contributing to continuous improvement and reliability projects.
*
Maintaining accurate maintenance records and CMMS updates.
*
Working safely and in line with company procedures.
About You
*
Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification, such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
*
Previous maintenance experience within heavy manufacturing, engineering or industrial environments.
*
Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
*
Experience with bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, hydraulics and pneumatics.
*
Able to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
*
Proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
*
Strong focus on health & safety
