Mechanical Fitter | Rail Industry | up to £39,677 + Overtime | Full Product Training Provided
Starting salary of £36,982 rising to £39,677 following competency sign-off, typically achieved within approximately 12 weeks.
Due to a major new rail contract worth over 10 years of work, our client is expanding and seeking a number of fitters to join their growing Doncaster operation.
They are looking for qualified individuals with experience from automotive workshops and vehicle service centres through to rail, aerospace, manufacturing and production environments.

Fitter duties:
Overhauling and rebuilding rail wheelsets and associated components
Mechanical assembly to engineering drawings
Inspection, measurement and quality checks
Basic wiring and testing activities (full training provided)
Recording work completed and maintaining quality documentation
Working within a skilled engineering team to achieve production targets
The successful fitter will:
Apprentice trained in a mechanical discipline with a Level 3 qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent). Proof of qualifications will be required.
Rail experience is not essential. Full product training and competency development will be provided.
Applications are welcome from candidates with mechanical fitting, assembly, maintenance or overhaul experience from rail, automotive, HGV, military, aerospace, manufacturing, plant, agricultural machinery or similar engineering environments.
Good literacy (English), numeracy, and communications skills

The benefits for fitters:
Starting salary: £32,728 plus 13% shift allowance (£36,982)
Salary after training: £35,113 plus 13% shift allowance (£39,677)
Overtime: Plenty of weekend overtime is available should you choose
Hours: 37.5hrs per week; weekly rotating shifts with early finishes on Fridays
Mornings: 6am-2.15pm Mon to Thurs, finishing at 11.30am on Fridays
Afters: 2pm -10.15pm Mon to Thurs, finishing at 5pm on Fridays
Holidays: 25 plus stats (usually 8)
