Description:

Mechanical Fitter / Installation Engineer | 3 months | £27.00 - £30.00p/h (Outside IR35)

Manchester / Liverpool / Wigan / Warrington

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter with strong machine build experience looking for your next contract? Do you enjoy hands-on installation and relocation work, and take pride in precision fitting and assembly?

My client, a well-established and growing business with an excellent reputation across the food and manufacturing sectors, is looking to appoint experienced Mechanical Fitters to support a major CAPEX project within a large food manufacturing facility in the Northwest. The business has a strong pipeline of work and a solid order book, offering genuine potential for ongoing contract opportunities beyond this project.

Take Ownership of Machine Relocation and Installation

This is a significant project involving the relocation and installation of production machinery within a major food manufacturing facility, including the fitting and positioning of conveyor systems, motors, cylinders, pneumatic and hydraulic components as part of a wider plant upgrade. You'll be responsible for mechanical assembly, fitting, and machine build, working from engineering drawings and schematics to tight tolerances.

Your responsibilities:

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve stripping down, moving, and rebuilding sections of conveyor and production line equipment as it's relocated and repositioned around the facility – as well as installing and assembling motors, cylinders, pneumatics and hydraulics to manufacturer specifications and tight tolerances. You'll be aligning and levelling machinery and equipment to ensure correct positioning and safe, reliable operation, and using an FLTto move heavy parts, assemblies and machinery around the site. You'll also carry out general mechanical fault-finding and adjustments during the installation and commissioning phases, working closely with other trades, engineers and site management to keep the project on track.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you'll need proven Mechanical Fitter or installation experience within manufacturing, ideally including machine relocation or rebuild work, along with an FLT (Forklift Truck) licence. You should be confident reading complex engineering drawings, and bring strong communication skills together with a professional, team-focused attitude.

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a financially secure contractor with an impressive pipeline of projects, working on a high-profile CAPEX installation within a major food manufacturing facility. You'll benefit from an Outside IR35 contract, with real potential for ongoing work and contract extensions as the client's project pipeline continues to grow.
