Mechanical Estimator - Building Services
Salary: £60,000 to £65,000+ (depending on experience)
Are you an experienced Mechanical Estimator looking to progress your career with a well-established and forward-thinking Building Services contractor?
Our client, a respected Mechanical & Electrical contractor, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator to join their growing team. They deliver high-quality building services solutions across a range of commercial sectors, providing both small works and fully designed mechanical projects from concept through to installation.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and reputable contractor offering a competitive salary of £60K to £65K+ (depending on experience), along with long-term career progression within a supportive and collaborative team.
The Role
As Mechanical Estimator, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of tenders and pre-construction activities. You will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive, and commercially viable estimates while maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and supply chain partners.
Key Responsibilities
·Liaise with clients, consultants, and main contractors throughout the tender process
·Attend site surveys where required to gather essential information for pricing
·Prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical building services by reviewing drawings, specifications, and employer requirements
·Price projects including HVAC, pipework, heating, and ventilation systems
·Identify and highlight any unusual, onerous, or high-risk tender requirements
·Source, obtain, and validate quotations for materials, plant, and subcontractors
·Maintain and develop strong relationships within the supply chain
·Use estimating software and internal systems to prepare tender submissions
·Compile cost comparison schedules for internal review
·Assist in preparing risk and opportunity schedules for commercial assessment
·Produce tender adjudication documentation
·Provide support during and after the tender process
·Ensure a structured handover of awarded projects to the delivery team
Skills & Experience Required
·Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within Building Services
·Experience estimating commercial mechanical projects, including small works and designed projects
·Strong understanding of mechanical systems such as HVAC, pipework, heating, and ventilation
·Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
·Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office
·Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
·Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
·Excellent organisation and time management skills
·High level of accuracy and attention to detail
