We are currently recruiting a Mechanical Estimator to work remotely ideally on an ad hoc freelance basis.
What the job involves, its roles and duties.
As Mechanical Estimator you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with mechanical systems in district heating energy centres /plant rooms and you will have responsibility for the following tasks.
* Prepare accurate and competitive estimates cost estimates for mechanical systems, into labour, materials, equipment and other related costs.
* As part of the estimating process you will provide detailed take-offs
* Identify potential project risks, either propose effective mitigation or identify the risk(s) to PPC’s client.
* Work collaboratively with the PPC engineering team to gather information as required
* Analyse and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents/specs to ensure estimates cover the full scope of works.
* Obtain tenders from subcontractors and PPC supply chain, evaluate their proposals for inclusion in the tender submission.
* Negotiate subcontractor pricing to ensure cost competitiveness.
Any experience and/or education requirements.
* Minimum 7 years Estimating experience. Proven record in the discipline of Estimating.
* Minimum HND level of education
* Excellent communication, people and team management skills.
* Experience in the application of principles and processes of estimating required within a business.
* First class analytical skills, knowledge of mechanical systems, and other construction process. Knowledge of electrical and ICA systems would be advantageous.
* Understanding / knowledge of technical documents.
