Mechanical Estimator

Salary: Dependent on experience – consideration given to all levels of experience at this stage

Location: Epsom

Hours: Mon – Fri, 9am – 5pm (Flexible)

We have an opportunity for an Estimator to join an established M&E building services company, who find themselves in the enviable position of more and more work coming in as a single source partner to their clients.

You’ll be responsible for costs relating to mechanical systems on their construction projects within the education, healthcare, and heritage sectors, as well as building fabric projects.

Collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information and ensure the accuracy of your estimates are profitable and completed in budget.

Candidate requirements

* It is essential that applicants can demonstrate some experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the construction industry for the more senior appointments, for the more entry level, a relevant educational qualification + work experience would be ideal.

* Knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection.

* Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, and specifications.

* Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.

* Familiarity with estimating software and tools advantageous.

* Strong negotiation and communication skills to effectively collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to overcome challenges.

* Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.

* Proficient in using computer software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite.

* Professional certifications (e.g. Certified Professional Estimator) are a plus.
