Job Title – Mechanical Estimator
Location – Home based with occasional travel
Role Type – Permanent

Morson is presently hiring for a compelling position as a Mechanical Estimator to become part of one of the leading infrastructure solutions firms, to work across several water Industry accounts for the remaining AMP7 projects and initiate early AMP8 works. The estimating function is rapidly expanding to support the forecasted increase in work volume over the next five years, with project values ranging from £5 million to over £100 million. Collaborating with water and wastewater enterprises, this company devises solutions aimed at enhancing water quality, affordability, and resilience. The position is home based role with occasional travel and comes with a competitive salary, along with additional benefits including a car allowance, pension plan, and private medical insurance.

Skills and experience:
• Degree-level qualification or equivalent in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering-related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator for a major mechanical/electrical contractor in the water sector.
• Experienced in pricing medium to large value mechanical (and ideally electrical) engineering projects.
• Essential experience in wastewater/sewerage treatment and process engineering.
• Experience in clean water projects would be advantageous.
• Familiar with the Civil Engineering Method of Measurement.

Role Responsibilities:
• Join the estimating project team, taking responsibility for the preparation of the mechanical estimate.
• Prepare the detailed scope from drawings, specifications, and a PCD that outlines the scope.
• Identify any errors or omissions in the scope within the PCD.
• Prepare abstracts of material and sub-contract requirements for sourcing and pricing.
• Conduct technical and commercial appraisals of material and subcontractor quotations to ensure full coverage of the scope is priced.
• Prepare analytical estimates, including detailed appraisals of the Mechanical (and ideally Electrical) packages and required attendances.
