Location: Milton Keynes

Salary: £35,000 + Discretionary Bonus + Overtime

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:00

Type of role: Permanent

Interaction Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a growing and innovative engineering business in Milton Keynes in their search for a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist manufacturer of bespoke industrial X-ray systems during a significant period of growth. Operating from a brand-new state-of-the-art facility, our client designs and builds high-quality inspection solutions used across a wide range of industries.

The role would suit an experienced Mechanical Engineering Supervisor, Team Leader or Senior Mechanical Engineer looking to progress into a position where they can combine hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities and have a genuine influence on manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will take responsibility for a small but growing engineering team while remaining actively involved in the build, installation and maintenance of bespoke X-ray cabinet systems.

This is a varied role offering a mixture of workshop-based manufacturing, team leadership, project coordination and occasional customer site visits for installation and commissioning work.

Key Responsibilities

Supervising and supporting a small engineering team, providing daily leadership and technical guidance.
Hands-on mechanical assembly and build of bespoke machinery and equipment.
Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within specification and to the highest quality standards.
Promoting a strong health & safety culture throughout the department.
Managing installation and service activities from planning through to completion.
Identifying and implementing continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
Mentoring and developing junior engineers.
Coordinating contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with Permit to Work systems and RAMS.
Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal departments.
Monitoring, sourcing and ordering spare parts as required.

The Candidate

We're keen to speak with practical, proactive engineering professionals who enjoy solving problems, leading by example and driving improvements.

Essential Requirements

Mechanical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or above).
Previous experience in a supervisory, team leader or senior engineering role.
Strong hands-on mechanical assembly and manufacturing experience.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Knowledge of Health & Safety best practice within a manufacturing environment.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Due to customer security requirements, applicants must be UK nationals with no criminal record.

Desirable Skills

Installation project management experience.
IOSH certification.
ILM Level 3 qualification.
Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
Knowledge of Permit to Work systems, RAMS and risk assessments.
Experience working with bespoke machinery, automation equipment or specialist engineering systems.
