The Company
Our client is at the forefront of the engineering sector. Sustained growth is the reason they have a new requirement for a Mechanical Engineer.
The Role
* As a Mechanical Engineer you develop mechanical solutions for the retrofit, modification and upgrade of existing engineering and ancillary equipment.
* You will work from customer requirements, site conditions and 3D laser scan data to develop integrated designs, layouts and installation solutions that are safe, practical and fit for purpose.
* A key part of your role is connecting engineering with what happens on site.
* You will support equipment condition assessments, develop dismantling and installation methodologies and coordinate mechanical interfaces across different Business Units and existing equipment.
* Working closely with project and site teams, you help resolve technical challenges and ensure designs can be manufactured, transported and installed effectively.
* You will also contribute to FEED studies, technical documentation, safety reviews and customer discussions, while ensuring compliance with applicable safety requirements, CDM regulations and n quality standards.
* Alongside project execution, you provide technical input during the proposal phase and contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
The Person
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, with HNC as a minimum.
* Relevant experience within greenfield and brownfield technical or project-driven environments.
* Experience delivering retrofit, upgrade or other turnkey engineering projects.
* Experience developing equipment dismantling and installation methodologies.
* Practical understanding of site execution, temporary works and lifting requirements, including crane and lifting studies for restricted site environments.
* Experience coordinating different engineering disciplines and site teams within complex project environments;.
* Experience with fabrication inspections and FAT testing is desirable but not essential.
* Strong mechanical engineering knowledge with a practical and solution-oriented approach.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor and 3D modelling.
* Strong understanding of CDM requirements and site safety compliance.
* Experience with FEED studies and integration across multiple engineering disciplines or Business Units.
* Ability to translate site and customer requirements into safe, manufacturable and executable solutions.
* Strong communication and coordination skills, with the confidence to advise colleagues and external stakeholders on technical matters.
* Able to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment and manage multiple technical interfaces.
* Willingness to travel to customer and project sites as required.
