Mechanical Engineer - Building Services

Location: Birmingham
Salary: Up to £48,000 (dependant on experience)
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 Days Office / 3 Days Home

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join a highly respected building services consultancy in Birmingham.

This is an excellent role for a Mechanical Engineer looking to further develop technically while progressing towards Senior Engineer level, working on a diverse portfolio of technically interesting projects across multiple sectors.

The business has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality building services design solutions and is currently involved in a broad range of projects across Education, Communal Residential, Commercial, Healthcare, Hotels and Listed Buildings. Typical project values range from £12m - £20m, with larger schemes reaching £50m - £60m+.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced team, gaining exposure across all stages of project delivery within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Produce mechanical building services designs across a range of sectors.
Design systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and associated plant.
Support projects through various RIBA stages, from concept through to detailed design.
Prepare technical calculations, reports, specifications and design documentation.
Coordinate with internal and external design teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
Attend project meetings and liaise with clients, architects, contractors and consultants.
Contribute to the delivery of efficient, sustainable and technically robust design solutions.
Ensure designs comply with relevant UK regulations and industry standards.
Requirements

Experience working as a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer or Building Services Engineer within a consultancy environment.
Experience designing HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
Understanding of UK building regulations and mechanical design standards.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment.
Experience using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, IES VE or similar would be advantageous.
Strong communication skills and desire to progress professionally.
