Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established petrochemical manufacturing company located in East Yorkshire, known as one of the leading producers in Europe. As a Mechanical Engineer your primary responsibilities will include supporting operational assets by providing daily advice and guidance on equipment inspection, maintenance, and repair. Additionally, you will play a key role in major projects, contributing technical support during the engineering and construction phases for both retrofit and new build opportunities.

The successful Mechanical Engineer will have experience in equipment troubleshooting, maintenance and repair for day-to-day operating asset support as well as equipment specification, selection, and efficient problem resolution for major capital projects. The ability to deliver root cause failure investigation skills related to engineering problems in the petrochemical environment is also essential.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities

Offer day-to-day technical guidance and on-site support during Turnaround (TAR) operations, focusing on design, specification, repair, maintenance, inspection, and reliability to ensure the safe and reliable operation of assets.
Provide engineering advice and conduct risk assessments in response to breakdowns or containment issues, leading independent root cause analyses for intricate failures.
Take ownership of and update technical practices for sites, staying informed about changes in industry codes and standards.
Contribute to the approval and upkeep of the Approved Vendor List.
Conduct training sessions and awareness presentations, sharing best practices and lessons learned across assets.
Provide ongoing support in subsequent stages of major projects, including handling technical queries, conducting vendor assurance visits, participating in construction reviews, and facilitating training initiatives.
Ideally, for this Mechanical Engineer role, being a Chartered Engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineer and substantial industry experience, particularly in the Petrochemicals sector, is preferred. Additionally, the candidate should serve as a role model for personal and process safety, demonstrating safety leadership across all activities.
