Description:
Our client, a leader in the Defence and Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical / Electrical Fitter for a 9-month contract position in Avonmouth. This role involves fabricating, fitting, and welding duties to support defence projects, with the potential for contract extension. The successful candidate will work five days a week, contributing to crucial developments in defence technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Assembly of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components and sub-assemblies
Reading and interpreting manufacturing and assembly drawings
Checking the complete assembly for alignment, dimensions, and quality
Ensuring personal and team safety by adhering to safety rules and policies
Job Requirements:
Experience in using hand and power tools; small-scale fabrication
Understanding of vacuum system assembly and cleanliness requirements
Knowledge of high-power electrical systems such as RF generators and electromagnets
Ability to perform basic electrical assembly and read electrical circuit drawings
Proficiency in cooling system assembly, including setting to work, filling, venting, purging, and draining
Experience in supporting and developing safe systems of work, including conducting risk assessments
Familiarity with lifting operations for slinging and rigging; lifting requirements are less than 1 tonne
Profile:
Self-driven with a logical working manner
Ability to question designs and suggest improvements
Attention to detail and a careful nature, with clear recording of non-conformances
Formal qualifications such as an apprenticeship or HND
Additional Details:
Location: Avonmouth, requires on-site presence 5 days a week
Contract Duration: 9 months, with possibilities for extension
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Security: UK eyes only
