A practical, hands‑on mechanical fitting role working nationwide on secure sites, with early starts from Port Talbot, strong weekly allowances, and strict security‑clearance requirements.

Role Overview

Join a travelling installation team responsible for fitting, maintaining and repairing mechanical door systems across secure and military locations throughout the UK. This role suits someone who enjoys working away, being part of a close‑knit team, and delivering high‑quality workmanship on specialist projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

Mechanical door installation on secure and military sites
Nationwide travel Monday–Friday as part of a team
Occasional Sunday travel for early Monday site meetings
Working safely and professionally within strict security protocols
Maintaining high standards of reliability, conduct and workmanship
Working Hours

Mon–Thu: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Fri: 6:00am – 2:00pm
Overtime available
Daily team meet point: Port Talbot, 6:00am sharp
Pay & Allowances

£36,000–£38,000 salary (DOE)
£25 tax‑free overnight allowance (Airbnb accommodation provided)
£100 weekly allowance for staying away
All travel arranged as a team
Security Clearance Requirements

Due to work on secure and military sites, candidates must be able to pass enhanced clearance checks, including:

DBS check – essential
Full background screening (employment history verification)
UK residency checks
Random drugs & alcohol testing
Ability to follow strict site security rules and protocols
What You Need

Valid CSCS card – essential
DBS check – essential
SSSTS / SMSTS – beneficial
Previous construction industry experience
Proven mechanical door fitting background
Ability to reliably reach Port Talbot for 6am departures
Strong teamwork, work ethic and willingness to work away
