TXM Recruit is partnering with a specialist engineering company to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer. The company designs and builds launch systems for fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). You’ll help develop the mechanical equipment that supports drone launch operations, taking designs from concept through to manufacture, assembly and testing.

The Role

Using SolidWorks, you’ll create and develop designs for specialist UAV launch equipment. You’ll work with the engineering team to turn requirements into practical mechanical solutions, including designs that use pneumatic components and systems. This is a fast-paced, evolving engineering environment where priorities and project requirements can change. You’ll need to adapt, work collaboratively, and help move designs forward as the equipment develops.

Key responsibilities
Design and model mechanical assemblies for fixed-wing UAV launch systems using SolidWorks.
Produce 3D models, detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing information.
Incorporate pneumatic components and systems into equipment designs where required.
Prepare bills of materials and supporting technical documentation.
Work with engineering and manufacturing colleagues to ensure designs can be built, assembled and maintained.
Support prototype builds, testing and improvements to UAV launch equipment.
Update designs in response to technical feedback and changing project requirements.About you
You have practical experience using SolidWorks in a mechanical design role.
You can produce accurate 3D models, assemblies and engineering drawings.
You understand mechanical engineering principles and design for manufacture.
Experience with pneumatics would be a strong advantage.
An interest in UAVs, drones or aerospace equipment would be beneficial.
You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift.
You’re collaborative, adaptable and able to help solve design and build challenges.
A relevant engineering qualification would be useful, though equivalent practical experience will also be considered. For a confidential discussion or to apply, contact Mark Hince, Principal Consultant – Defence & Precision Engineering at TXM Recruit
