Mechanical Design Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who can demonstrate a mininum of 5 years experience working in a design engineer environment; producing complex, high tolerance components.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for engineering design, project planning, reporting and providing technical and administrative support to all projects.

This role requires a varied background and a strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles; stress, forces, materials, thermal analysis and calculations.

Responsibilities:

Conduct engineering design activities for bespoke, clean sheet prototype products

Produce concept and detail designs in line with project plans

Update project plans and timelines to ensure timely completion of deliverables

Produce comprehensive reports detailing project progress and outcomes

Provide technical and administrative support on all projects

Generate procurement lists and raise RFQs and purchase orders as necessary

Requirements:

Min 5 years experience working in a design manufacturing environment producing complex components; ideally aerospace or medical devices

Qualified in Mechanical Engineering to HNC or NVQ level 5

Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles

Able to perform classic hand calculations

Strong background in design/project engineering and administration

Proficiency in a 3D design package such as Solidworks

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
