Plymouth | Remote Working
£60-£70 per hour
12-Month Contract | Inside IR35

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation delivering complex defence and naval infrastructure projects.

This Mechanical Design Engineer role is ideal for someone who enjoys designing technically challenging mechanical systems while contributing to nationally significant defence programmes. You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, supporting projects from concept through to detailed design across major infrastructure and marine facilities.

The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role in delivering innovative engineering solutions within a highly regulated environment, supporting some of the UK's most important defence projects.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

Producing mechanical building services and engineering designs for defence infrastructure projects
Developing mechanical calculations, specifications and technical reports
Supporting projects through concept, detailed design and delivery phases
Coordinating designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams
Producing high-quality technical documentation in line with project requirements
Site attendance once or twice a month is required.
Ensuring designs comply with industry standards and client specifications
Supporting the delivery of complex engineering projects within a regulated environmentThis Mechanical Design Engineer position offers the opportunity to work on technically demanding projects with long-term programme visibility.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience delivering complex engineering projects.

Ideally, you'll have:

Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
Strong mechanical design experience within Building Services, infrastructure, defence or industrial sectors
Experience producing mechanical calculations, specifications and technical documentation
Excellent communication and technical problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical EngineeringThe following would be advantageous:

Defence, nuclear or marine engineering experience
Experience working within highly regulated industries
Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
Security clearance or the ability to obtain security clearanceWhy Apply?
