Mechanical Design Engineer
£35 - £45 per hour
37 Hours Per week, 7.5 hour shifts each day
Manpower has an exciting opportunity for a number of Mechanical Design Engineers to join the team at our client site based in Yeovil.
Based on an initial contract running until November 2024 you will be responsible for the design, development, and analysis of Environmental Control Systems (ECS), turbo machinery and heat exchangers as well as LSS and Oxygen backup systems. You will analyse the stress, vibration, and heat transfer on a variety of projects and programmes within the aerospace industry.
You will use your expert knowledge of engineering discipline, standards, processes, and tools to ensure compliance to customer and program requirements. Other responsibilities will include communicating with the project and engineering teams, conducting design reviews, preparing and presenting presentations to internal and external customers as well as contributing to key department program initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform stress analysis using complex finite element & classical book calculation methods, & support testing
Perform heat transfer analysis in practice and theory (analytical correlations and complex finite element methods) and related topics in thermodynamics, single and multi-phase flows, and energy systems
Provide technical oversight to global engineering teams across time zones
Provide technical guidance to junior engineersYOU MUST HAVE:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or closely related field with emphasis in heat transfer or thermal sciences & stress analysis
Proficiency in linear static, nonlinear/elasto-plastic, fatigue (HCF & LCF), modal, shock, harmonic, random vibration, & crack growth analyses
Strong working knowledge of ANSYS finite element software & classical hand calculation methods
