About the Role
Mech Electrics are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Cost Planner to join our client’s dynamic team based in Blackburn. This pivotal role involves working closely with the project management and engineering teams to ensure accurate and efficient cost planning and control on a variety of mechanical projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and cost planning, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
* Cost Planning and Estimation: Develop detailed cost estimates and plans for mechanical projects, ensuring all aspects of the project are accounted for and within budget.
* Budget Management: Monitor and manage project budgets, identifying any potential cost overruns and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
* Bid Preparation: Assist in the preparation of bids and tenders, providing accurate cost information and analysis to support competitive proposals.
* Cost Reporting: Prepare and present regular cost reports to senior management, highlighting any variances and providing insights to aid decision-making.
* Vendor and Supplier Management: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
* Risk Management: Identify potential cost risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project financial stability.
* Documentation: Maintain comprehensive cost records and documentation to support project audits and financial reviews.
* Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align cost planning with project goals and timelines.
* Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in cost planning and mechanical engineering, applying this knowledge to improve processes and outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
* Several years' experience in a cost planning or cost engineering role within the mechanical engineering sector.
* Proven track record of managing costs on large-scale mechanical projects.
* Strong analytical and numerical skills, with proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office Suite.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
