Our client, a leading international engineering, and infrastructure consultancy, is seeking a Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join its Manchester-based team.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a nationally connected delivery team, collaborating with professionals across the UK and internationally. You'll contribute to delivering high-quality engineering design solutions across a diverse range of sectors including Commercial, Defence, Energy, Education, and Healthcare, gaining exposure to complex, high-profile, multidisciplinary projects.
Responsibilities of Mechanical Building Services Engineer:
* Design and specify mechanical building services systems from concept through to detailed design, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and public health systems
* Perform detailed engineering calculations using tools such as IES, Hevacomp, and MEPworx
* Prepare technical specifications, reports, and presentations to support project delivery
* Collaborate with BIM teams to develop coordinated models and drawings using Revit
* Participate in client and stakeholder meetings, contributing to technical discussions
* Undertake condition surveys, site inspections, and support commissioning activities
* Manage assigned tasks and deliver outputs to a high standard within agreed timelines and budgets
Experience Required for Mechanical Building Services Engineer:
* Relevant experience in Mechanical Building Services Engineering with a focus on sustainable design
* Degree (or equivalent) in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
* Working towards Chartered Membership (CIBSE, IMechE, or equivalent)
* Proficiency in IES, Hevacomp, StabiCAD, Revit, NBS, and Microsoft Office
* Sound knowledge of UK technical standards and codes of practice
* Understanding of energy efficiency strategies and low-carbon building design
* Awareness of energy and carbon data analysis and building performance improvement
* Familiarity with commissioning and post-installation performance evaluation
