Day-to-Day
Your daily activities will include:
Designing and developing mechanical building services systems such as heating, ventilation, cooling, and domestic services.
Collaborating with clients, contractors, and suppliers to deliver tailored solutions.
Conducting technical assessments and simulations to ensure optimal system performance.
Preparing technical documentation and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Supporting project delivery teams and overseeing the commissioning process.
Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and efficient building services solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
Developing 2D and 3D CAD layouts and visuals.
Supporting full mechanical building services design requirements.
Conducting building environmental modelling using industry-standard software.
Undertaking dynamic thermal simulations and summertime overheating assessments.
Completing Part L calculations and preparing applications for incoming utilities.
Reviewing low-carbon design solutions and performance specifications.
Assisting in the development of technical design documentation.
Collaborating with project installation teams, suppliers, and specialist subcontractors.
Supporting commissioning activities and creating commissioning plans.
Reviewing and checking designs produced by colleagues, consultants, and contractors.
Providing technical support to construction teams to ensure compliance with design and legislative requirements.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who are articulate, confident, and professional, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Ideal candidates will have:
HNC, HND, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
Previous experience in building services design within a consultancy or contracting environment.
A sound understanding of mechanical building services.
Proficiency in relevant CAD/design software.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
