Project Engineer - Mechanical & Electrical, Building Services

Location: United Kingdom
Duration: ASAP - 12 months
Rates: £425 - £475 per day, outside IR35

We are looking for an individual to support the Senior Project Manager with managing the contractor on the work package to ensure adherence to the project budget and programme, to provide guidance and expertise regarding primary design (and any necessary changes), and to support with engineering interface enquires. In addition to this, the individual will be coordinating between manufacturing suppliers and client requests related to the project - from an electrical/mechanical engineering perspective.

We are looking for a Project Engineer who has either worked for a principal contractor or client on the design and build of HV substations, offshore substation, energy generation construction or major grid connection projects from conception to completion.

Duties:

Project manage the delivery of either Primary Equipment (circuit breakers, transformers, and switchgears) or Building Services, Mechanical (HVAC, Hot/Cold Water Systems)
Work closely with all stakeholders, e.g. with the client, subcontractors, internal project management teams and suppliers to deliver engineering design, site installation and handover of the HV substation including associated electrical works
Maintain an up-to-date detailed tracker / register of all design interface issues
Proactively seek the timely resolution of all open interface issues
Resolve any risks to the project key dates arising from any design interface issues
Ensure the contractual agreements are adhered to throughout the project and mitigate any issues
Provide updates to the client when required, on an ongoing basis
Ensure project is completed to time, budget and satisfaction of all parties involved.Requirements:

3 years+ project engineering or project management in electricity or renewable energy construction sector
Experience working on large UK/Europe substation projects (£10-20m) HV project experience strongly preferred
Degree or Masters in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering related field
Understanding of primary equipment, (HV transformers, MV switchgear, HVDC converter and valves, control and protection equipment (LV Panels) and LV cabling, Fibre Cabling, power cables AND HVAC, Heating Systems, Hot/Cold Water, Plumbing)
Strong Electrical/Mechanical engineering and client interface experience on complex projects
Experience managing subcontractors essential and coordinating various teams with a focus on budget, quality and program.
