M&E Estimator
Location: Central London
Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
Working Pattern: Office-based
A well-established and financially stable independent building contractor is looking for an experienced M&E Estimator to join their preconstruction team, working on prestigious commercial projects across London.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive M&E tenders up to approximately £2m, working closely with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
The Role:
You will report to the Preconstruction Manager and manage projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission, supporting negotiations and ensuring a smooth handover to the delivery team.
Key responsibilities:
* Preparing M&E tender packages and first-principles pricing up to £2m.
* Producing detailed cost plans and estimating preliminaries.
* Issuing enquiries and analysing supplier/subcontractor quotations.
* Carrying out take-offs from drawings and specifications.
* Attending site surveys and client/supply chain meetings.
* Working closely with Building Estimators on joint bids.
* Supporting negotiations, supplier selection and tender close-out.
* Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering solutions.
About You:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in M&E estimating within an M&E contracting or installation environment, with excellent commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
Essential experience:
* Minimum 5 years' M&E estimating experience.
* Proven experience pricing tenders up to approximately £2m.
* Strong knowledge of M&E building services and commercial projects.
* Experience with take-off and estimating software.
* Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
* Commercial and risk management awareness.
An HNC or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering would be advantageous, as would knowledge of MTC, JCT and NEC contracts.
