Special Needs Maths Teacher – SEMH

Location: Surrey
Start Date: Immediate Start
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Salary: £180 – £250 per day, depending on experience

TeacherActive is proud to be recruiting for a Special Needs Maths Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school based in Surrey.

The school supports young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, with pupils potentially presenting additional needs including Autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma and challenging behaviour.

As the Maths Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Maths lessons, adapting the curriculum to meet a range of individual needs and abilities. You will work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and other professionals to create a structured, supportive and positive learning environment.

The successful Maths Teacher will ideally have:

QTS / QTLS or a relevant recognised teaching qualification
Strong knowledge and experience of teaching Maths
Experience working within SEND, SEMH, Alternative Provision or PRU settings is highly desirable
Strong behaviour and classroom management skills
The ability to differentiate lessons for pupils working at different academic levels
A calm, patient and resilient approach
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to education
A strong understanding of safeguarding and SEND
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
