Maths Supply Teacher

Location: South Manchester
Start Date: ASAP
Role: Day-to-day and short-term supply, with potential for longer-term opportunities
Pay: £140–£190 per day, depending on experience

Cover People are looking for Maths Teachers to support secondary schools across South Manchester.

These opportunities are primarily day-to-day and short-term, making them ideal for teachers who want flexibility, are building experience across different schools, or are looking to supplement existing commitments. Longer-term placements can also become available where schools have an ongoing requirement.

The Role

You will help schools maintain continuity of learning by delivering high-quality Maths lessons during periods of teacher absence.

Depending on the assignment, you may be responsible for:

Teaching Maths across KS3 and KS4

Delivering lessons in line with the school's curriculum and existing planning

Supporting pupils with mathematical understanding and problem-solving

Adapting tasks to meet different abilities and learning needs

Maintaining a calm, focused and well-managed classroom

Setting clear expectations and managing behaviour effectively

Checking pupils' understanding and addressing misconceptions

Encouraging pupils to participate and build confidence in Maths

Working alongside Teaching Assistants and other school staff

About You

We're looking for confident and adaptable Maths Teachers who can settle quickly into different school environments.

You should have:

QTS or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification

Recent experience teaching Maths at secondary level

Strong subject knowledge

Effective classroom and behaviour-management skills

The ability to follow existing planning and adapt your approach where necessary

Strong communication and organisational skills

A reliable and professional approach

A genuine commitment to helping pupils make progress

Both ECTs and experienced Maths Teachers are encouraged to apply.
