Materials Buyer | Housebuilding

I’m looking for an experienced Materials Buyer to join the Commercial Team of a growing housebuilder.

You’ll buy materials for several residential developments, from pre-start through to completion. The job is to get the quantities, specification, price and timing right. A cheap quote is no use if the wrong materials turn up when the site needs them.

The role

Prepare material schedules from drawings, specifications, estimates and budgets.

Check quantities, obtain and compare supplier quotations, and negotiate prices within agreed budgets.

Place accurate purchase orders in line with approved specifications and supplier agreements.

Work closely with Site Managers to coordinate deliveries with the build programme.

Monitor supplier performance and keep track of trading agreements.

*

Provide clear purchasing and cost information at pre-start, site development and monthly valuation meetings.

You’ll report to the Commercial Director and work closely with the Contracts Manager and teams across the business.

I’m looking for someone who knows residential construction, is commercially sharp and pays attention to detail. You’ll be confident dealing with suppliers and site teams, and able to spot a problem before it becomes a delay.
