Are you an experienced Production Engineer looking to play a key role in the delivery of complex shipbuilding programmes?

We are seeking talented Production Engineers to support major vessel construction projects across all phases of build, from cut steel and structural assembly through to outfit integration, commissioning, and final delivery. The Opportunity

As a Production Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing production engineering solutions that drive safe, efficient, and cost-effective vessel construction. Working across multiple disciplines, you will ensure production activities are fully planned, engineered, and sequenced to support programme delivery.

You will collaborate with Design, Planning, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Project teams to optimise build strategies and maintain production flow across shipyard facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and manage production work orders across all stages of vessel construction.
Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and supporting manufacturing documentation.
Define and implement build strategies, manufacturing sequences, and production methodologies.
Support production planning activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to schedule.
Review and interpret engineering drawings relating to structural, piping, and outfitting systems.
Participate in production readiness reviews for blocks, modules, and major assemblies.
Develop lift plans, turning assessments, and transportation considerations for large structures.
Support production scheduling, progress monitoring, and reporting activities
Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve production challenges and improve build performance.
Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and programme requirements throughout the build lifecycle.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

Experience within Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar engineering environment.
Strong understanding of production workflows and manufacturing processes
Ability to create, manage, and control work orders throughout a project lifecycle.
Experience developing Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Knowledge of build sequencing, work package development, and production planning.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience working within complex engineering or manufacturing programmes

Desirable Experience

Shipbuilding, marine, naval, offshore, oil & gas, defence, or heavy engineering experience.
Experience supporting multi-phase build programmes
Knowledge of structural fabrication, block assembly, outfit installation, and commissioning activities.
Experience developing build strategy documentation and defining production work quantities.
Understanding of heavy lift planning and block transportation activities

Toolsets & Systems

Experience with some or all of the following would be advantageous:

SAP (Work Order Management, Production Control, Material Management, Progress Reporting).
Foran, Ship Constructor or AutoCAD
Production planning and scheduling systems
Lift planning and transportation assessment tools
Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint
Digital production reporting and readiness systems
