Location: Birmingham (Onsite)
Pay Rate: £13.53 per hour (£28,142.40 per annum equivalent)
Work Pattern: Days, Monday to Friday (Choice of 07:00-15:30 or 07:30-16:00)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract Duration: 9 Months
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Manufacturing Technician II to join a passionate operational team supporting world-leading diagnostic products in Birmingham.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring scheduled activities are carried out accurately and high-quality standards are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
Independently manage your daily workload against a published manufacturing plan.
Monitor and manage material inventory to ensure stock is available and correctly transacted for assigned work.
Operate, maintain, and own scheduled activities for designated laboratory equipment, work areas, or functions.
Perform routine data collection and process-checking activities to ensure quality compliance.
Proactively identify and assist with implementing process improvement initiatives across the department.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: GCSE level education with at least 1 year of relevant experience, OR a degree in a relevant life science subject.
Experience: Essential hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment.
Skills: Strong digital literacy (including MS Excel), accurate documentation skills, and the ability to strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Technical Aptitude: Basic mathematical skills and a practical knowledge of units of measurement.
Physical & Environmental: Comfortable handling chemical solutions, following strict chemical hygiene standards, and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ability to lift up to 20 kg as required by essential functions.
Flexibility: Willingness to work short-notice overtime (including occasional weekends) to support department needs when required.
