We are currently recruiting for an experienced Team Leader to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment within the medical device sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong leadership skills and a background in regulated manufacturing to take the next step in their career.
The Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will support the day-to-day management of production operations. You will lead a team of Process/Manufacturing Operatives, ensuring performance targets are achieved across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People metrics.
This is a hands-on leadership role, and you will be expected to operate as a Process Operator when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Take daily responsibility for achieving Key Performance Indicators (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People).
* Promote and drive a zero-accident culture through proactive identification of safety risks.
* Ensure strict adherence to company policies and procedures.
* Provide daily leadership and direction to a team of Manufacturing Operators.
* Maintain high-quality standards in line with Medical Device and GMP requirements.
* Ensure adherence to production plans to meet customer delivery expectations (OTIF).
* Monitor product compliance with customer specifications.
* Lead and promote best practice in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
* Conduct performance checks and provide accurate operational updates.
* Drive improvements in Right First Time and accurate batch record completion.
* Plan labour requirements, including managing sickness and holiday cover.
* Identify and implement opportunities to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency.
* Attend planning meetings and provide clear production updates.
* Develop team capability through multi-skilling initiatives.
* Coach and mentor team members using Lean leadership principles.
* Support temporary labour planning where required.
* Take responsibility for daily operational decisions to ensure production targets are met.
* Communicate effectively across shifts using verbal, written, email and visual management tools.
* Lead manufacturing activities in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
About You
* GCSE level education (including Maths and English) or equivalent.
* Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with prior team leadership or supervisory experience.
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices.
* Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ideally within a regulated industry.
* Ability to follow and communicate detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* High level of attention to detail and computer literacy.
* Flexible approach to working hours to meet business needs.
* Experience of Lean Manufacturing principles would be advantageous.
