Manufacturing Engineer salary: £41,250 – £45,750

Manufacturing Engineer Overview:

Improve manufacturing processes across high-quality aerospace component production
Support production with root cause analysis, corrective actions and technical problem-solving
Create and maintain work instructions, process flows, SOPs and controlled documentation
Drive lean manufacturing, waste reduction and continuous improvement activity
Work closely with production, quality, customers and cross-functional engineering teams 

This Manufacturing Engineer role is with an established aerospace manufacturing business in Downton, Salisbury, supporting the improvement of processes across a specialist production environment. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering and customer-facing teams to improve efficiency, reduce waste, solve production issues and maintain high manufacturing standards. This Manufacturing Engineer position would suit someone with experience in manufacturing engineering, process improvement or production support within aerospace, precision engineering or another controlled manufacturing environment.

Day-to-day responsibilities of a Manufacturing Engineer

Develop, implement and improve manufacturing processes for aerospace components
Support production teams with technical problem-solving and process improvements
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues
Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, flow and waste reduction
Create and maintain process flow diagrams, work instructions, SOPs and production documentation
Monitor production metrics and identify areas for improvement
Work with Quality to support AS9100, ISO9001 and controlled manufacturing requirements
Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure practical engineering input is applied
Support cross-functional improvement projects across Production, Quality and Engineering
Help maintain consistent standards around safety, quality, delivery and repeatabilityWhat they’re looking for - Manufacturing Engineer

Experience in a Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer, Process Engineer or similar role
Background in aerospace, precision engineering, fabrication, mechanical manufacturing or another controlled production environment
Good understanding of manufacturing processes and practical production support
Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous improvement
Able to create and maintain clear manufacturing documentation, including work instructions and SOPs
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methods
Strong problem-solving skills with good attention to detail
Able to communicate clearly with production staff, engineers, quality teams and customers
Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-moving manufacturing environmentDesirable - Manufacturing Engineer

Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar
Aerospace manufacturing experience
AS9100 or ISO9001 exposure
Experience working with fabricated, pipe, duct, fluid system or precision component manufacturing
Experience monitoring production KPIs and using data to drive improvements
Lean, Six Sigma or formal continuous improvement training
