Manufacturing Engineer 2-3 month contract
This contract supports a strategic outsourcing initiative focused on capturing, documenting and packaging existing CNC manufacturing processes for transfer to external suppliers or machining partners to ensure a controlled low risk outsourcing transition, whilst maintaining quality and production continuity.
Working with the machining team, you’ll review and document CNC milling, turning and multi‑axis processes, capturing setups, tooling, fixtures, inspection methods, machine capabilities, cycle times and constraints, producing outsourcing‑ready documentation - process sheets, work instructions, SOPs, setup guides, tooling and fixture data, control plans, inspection requirements, routing information and Bills of Process.
You’ll prepare technical data packs for RFQ, support supplier assessments, identify risks in process transfer, recommend improvements to strengthen manufacturability and supplier readiness, and help facilitate knowledge transfer between internal teams and external partners.
We are looking for proven Manufacturing Engineering experience in CNC environments, strong understanding of machining processes, GD&T and engineering drawings, experience producing technical manufacturing documentation, and background in process capability, quality control and inspection methodologies.
Experience with outsourcing, relocation, precision engineering, lean practices, ISO9001 and ERP/MRP systems is desirable.
