Description:
Manufacturing Engineer
£35,000 - £40,000
Plymouth
Yolk Recruitment is partnered with an established precision engineering business that is looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineer. Operating from a modern facility in Plymouth, the company provides machining, toolmaking, fabrication, engineering design and bespoke machinery services to customers across several industries.
This role would suit an experienced machinist, toolmaker or fabrication professional who wants to move away from a full-time shop floor position and develop towards technical and manufacturing management. You'll combine your practical engineering knowledge with design support, quoting, customer liaison and improvements across the workshop.
This is what you'll be doing
Providing practical technical advice to customers and colleagues across the workshop
Supporting the design of individual components, mechanical systems and bespoke machinery
Preparing quotations, processing orders and purchasing materials
Producing job packs and helping to coordinate work through the business
Identifying improvements across machining, fabrication and wider manufacturing processes
Supporting quality, safety and QMS activities, including the coordination of calibration, servicing and other suppliers
Building relationships with customers and gradually taking greater responsibility for account management
The experience you'll bring to the team
A practical background in machining, toolmaking, fabrication or a similar engineering discipline
Experience within an engineering or manufacturing workshop
Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject, with an HNC desirable
A time-served engineering apprenticeship would be advantageous
CAD or mechanical design experience using software such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks would be beneficial
And this is what you'll get in return
Early finish on Fridays
25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
Annual leave increasing with service to a maximum of 27 days
Cycle to work scheme
Clear development towards higher positions
