We are currently recruiting for an experienced and proactive Manufacturing Engineer to join an established engineering and manufacturing business working on a permanent basis near Poynton.

Salary is c£50,000 per annum plus 33 days' holiday, Pension, Healthcare, Medical and Life Assurance etc,

Duties for the Manufacturing Engineer role:

This is a hands-on role focused on the introduction of new components and processes into production, with particular emphasis on CNC machining and stainless steel components.

You will be responsible for developing robust manufacturing methods, improving CNC tooling and machining processes, and supporting the successful introduction of new products into production.

Key Responsibilities

*

Develop and optimise CNC programmes offline using CAM software such as FeatureCAM, Mastercam, Siemens NX, Fusion 360 or similar.

*

Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models and technical specifications to generate accurate toolpaths.

*

Support CNC machining trials and production activities when required.

*

Lead the manufacturing introduction of new components from design release through to full production.

*

Define and document manufacturing processes, machining strategies and standard methods.

*

Work closely with Design Engineering to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture.

*

Specify, develop and update CNC tooling, fixtures and workholding solutions.

*

Work alongside CNC Programmers and Machinists to validate and improve machining strategies.

*

Continuously improve tooling, cutting parameters and machining methods.

*

Carry out process capability studies and support first-off and production sign-off activities.

*

Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues, including scrap, quality problems and machining inefficiencies.

*

Maintain manufacturing documentation, including routings, work instructions and tooling lists.

*

Provide technical support to production teams during trials, process changes and problem-solving activities.

*

Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture across the manufacturing environment.

*

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, quality and productivity.

About You

The successful Manufacturing Engineer will have:

*

Proven experience working in a Manufacturing Engineering role within a precision or high-specification manufacturing environment.

*

Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling and cutting strategies.

*

Demonstrable experience machining stainless steel components.

*

Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.

*

Practical knowledge of fixturing, workholding and tool selection.

*

Experience using CAM software and a good understanding of G-code and CNC machine operations.

*

Strong knowledge of machining principles, materials and tooling.

*

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

*

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both engineering and production teams.

*

A willingness to work across both office and shop-floor environments.

Desirable Experience

*

3+ years' experience within a manufacturing engineering environment.

*

Experience specifically involving the manufacture of stainless steel components.

*

Experience supporting NPI (New Product Introduction) within a machining environment.

*

Experience developing and improving CNC tooling, fixtures and machining strategies.
