Description:

Anderson Knight is delighted to be supporting a leading energy infrastructure contractor as they continue an exciting phase of UK and Ireland expansion. With major frameworks secured and a growing pipeline of high‑value MV/HV, BESS and Substation projects, our client is building a high‑performing Special Projects commercial team based in Glasgow.

We are seeking an ambitious Managing Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a strategic commercial leadership role. This is a rare opportunity to influence multi‑million‑pound energy transition projects while shaping and mentoring a growing commercial function.

As Managing QS, you will act as a key commercial lead across a diverse portfolio of major energy infrastructure developments. You’ll move beyond traditional package management and take ownership of full‑lifecycle commercial governance, contract strategy, and margin protection across complex EPC projects.

You’ll work closely with senior UK & Ireland leadership, guide junior QS staff, and become a trusted commercial escalation point for NEC3/NEC4 contracts.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead commercial performance across high‑voltage, substation and BESS projects.

* Manage subcontract procurement, drafting, negotiation, valuations and KPI performance.

* Oversee NEC3/NEC4 contract mechanisms including compensation events, variations and early warnings.

* Drive robust CVRs, cashflow forecasting and commercial reporting for senior leadership.

* Provide expert dispute avoidance and claims guidance.

* Support tender reviews, risk identification and early‑stage commercial strategy.

* Mentor and develop Assistant/Trainee QS team members.

* Uphold strong governance, SHEQ awareness and continuous improvement across commercial systems.

About You

* Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.

* Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.

* Experience in Infrastructure, Utilities, Power, Substations, BESS or MV/HV Transmission is highly advantageous.

* Confident negotiator with senior stakeholders and Tier‑1 subcontractors.

* Advanced financial/commercial reporting skills (Excel + CVR software).

* Able to commute to Glasgow (Hillington) within 45 minutes.

* Willing to travel across the UK & Ireland as required.

* Proactive, detail‑driven and collaborative.

What’s On Offer

* Highly competitive salary + tailored car allowance/car scheme.

* Flexible start times and early Friday finish option.

* Hybrid working (trust‑based, Fridays/ad‑hoc).

* Clear long‑term career path with senior mentorship.

* Exposure to major UK & Ireland energy projects and international collaboration.

If you’re a commercially sharp QS ready to step into a leadership role within a growing specialist division, Anderson Knight would love to speak with you.
