Description:

Managing Director

£80,000–£100,000 + Attractive Executive Package

An opportunity to make a real difference

Are you an experienced business leader who knows how to turn commercial opportunities into sustainable growth?

We're looking for a commercially minded Managing Director to lead a growing, technically focused business through its next stage of development.

This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of business performance, shape the company's future direction and build a business that can grow without relying on a handful of key individuals.

You'll work closely with the existing shareholders and Board, benefiting from an effective handover and ongoing support, while having the autonomy to lead the business day to day and make a tangible impact.

The Role

As Managing Director, you'll take overall responsibility for the company's financial performance, operational delivery, commercial direction and people.

You'll combine strategic leadership with a hands-on approach, ensuring the business is well positioned for growth while maintaining strong commercial discipline and high standards of delivery.

Key responsibilities will include:

*

Leading the development and delivery of the business strategy and growth plans.

*

Taking ownership of revenue, profitability, cash flow, budgets and financial performance.

*

Building, developing and leading an effective management team.

*

Improving operational performance, project delivery and commercial controls.

*

Strengthening customer relationships and supporting key business development opportunities.

*

Ensuring projects are commercially sound, appropriately resourced and delivered to the required standards.

*

Developing clear processes, reporting and accountability across the business.

*

Identifying opportunities to improve systems, efficiency and ways of working.

*

Reporting to the Board and providing clear recommendations on business performance and future investment.

About You

We're interested in an established senior leader who combines commercial awareness with strong operational and people-management skills.

You'll ideally bring:

*

Significant leadership experience within an engineering, construction, building services, energy or other technically led project-based environment.

*

Experience taking responsibility for the performance of a business, division or substantial operational function.

*

A strong understanding of profitability, project margins, cash flow and commercial risk.

*

The ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and develop capable managers.

*

Experience improving business performance, processes and organisational structure.

*

Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.

*

A practical, decisive approach and the confidence to challenge constructively.

*

The ability to balance longer-term strategy with the day-to-day realities of running a business.

Experience within a growing SME would be particularly valuable, as would a track record of helping a business scale successfully.

You don't need to be the most technical person in the room. The priority is your ability to lead the business, build a strong team and ensure the right people are in place to deliver.

What's on Offer?

*

£85,000–£100,000 basic salary, depending on experience.

*

Attractive performance-related bonus.

*

Executive benefits package, with scope to discuss the right overall reward structure.

*

Direct access to the Board and shareholders.

*

A structured handover and ongoing support.

*

Genuine autonomy to influence business strategy and decision-making.

*

The opportunity to shape the next phase of growth and leave a lasting mark on the business.

Interested?

This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than simply maintaining the status quo. You'll have the chance to influence strategy, strengthen the organisation and help build a business with long-term potential.

If you're an experienced leader looking for your next challenge, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
