Maintenance Technician (Elec Bias)
Location: Beacon Centre, Taunton
Position Type: Temp-to-Perm
Hours: 10:00am – 18:00pm, Monday – Friday (Flexibility with core hours and additional overtime available based on site operational needs)
PAYE Rate: £17.30 per hour (£36k per annum)
About the Role:
Our client are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician with an electrical bias to join our team. This role involves a mix of planned preventative maintenance and reactive tasks, ensuring the smooth operation and safety of our facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical maintenance, with additional skills in fabric maintenance, minor carpentry, and project work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform planned preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical assets.
* Conduct fabric maintenance of the building, including minor repairs and carpentry work.
* Carry out minor fabric project work, lifecycle variations, and minor works.
* Utilise the Building Management System (BMS) to control and monitor mechanical plant.
* Ensure compliance with Healthcare HBN and HTM requirements.
* Inspect and repair fire doors according to schedule.
* Coordinate planned and reactive activities with Site Teams.
* Ensure timely completion of PPMs and maintain accurate service records.
* Complete all tasks competently and in compliance with relevant policies, specifications, and HSE regulations.
* Develop IT skills (Excel, Word, Email, PDA) to manage business information.
* Use a PDA device to sign off PPMs on time.
* Perform maintenance, reactive, and installation works according to policies and HSE regulations.
* Prioritise workload with Team Leader/Facilities Coordinator to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
* Build client relationships and respond proactively to customer needs.
* Assess and manage risks and hazards for all types of work undertaken.
* Inspect and maintain fire doors to applicable standards to ensure fire compartmentalization is maintained (training provided if needed).
Key Skills:
* Experience in healthcare settings is desirable but not essential.
* Strong background in electrical maintenance.
* Competence in fabric maintenance and minor carpentry.
* Proficiency in IT skills and use of PDA devices.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and proactive approach.
