Are you a skilled Plumber experienced in plumbing, maintenance, and repairs? Do you possess a valid driver's license and are you willing to operate Trust vehicles? Can you perform plumbing and fitting maintenance repairs, conduct planned inspections, and make improvements to Trust buildings and other facilities in Chester? Are you ready to respond to emergency calls if needed? Can you start work immediately or within one week if successful?

Barker Ross Recruitment is currently supporting a Healthcare organisation in Chester in recruiting a Maintenance Plumber to handle plumbing and fitting maintenance repairs, planned inspections, and improvements for healthcare buildings and other agencies in Chester.

Pay Rates:

£12.82 - £13.50 PAYE
£14.59 - £15.50 Umbrella (depending on skills, experience, and qualifications)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week)
Emergency On-Call Service: Required outside of regular hours if necessary
Travel Required: Yes, for on-call emergency support
Driving Licence Required: Yes, with a willingness to operate Trust vehiclesOverview:
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex distribution and drainage systems, including plant equipment and steam generation systems. Inspect, repair, and maintain gas distribution systems and related equipment. Work as part of a multi-skilled team, providing standard service hours (37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday) and on-call emergency support as needed. Operate Trust vehicles as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform tasks safely, adhering to safety regulations and Health & Safety Procedures.
Execute a variety of tasks across different trades per the Estates Department's Multi-Skilling Agreement.
Carry a mobile smartphone to respond to emergencies and daily tasks via the Labour Management System.
Participate in the Estates Operational Forum for efficient departmental operations.
Conduct job-specific risk assessments and contribute to the departmental risk register.
Engage in training to enhance skills and comply with the Trust's core training requirements.
Instruct others in trade-related tasks.
Participate in the on-call rota for emergency out-of-hours work if required.
Perform maintenance, repair, fault-finding, and periodic inspections of hot/cold water and drainage systems, including unblocking drains.
Maintain, repair, and test domestic and commercial gas installations and equipment, requiring Gas Safe registration.
Set out and complete new works on water systems, drainage, and gas installations.
Work independently, interpreting instructions, drawings, and specifications.
Safely work at heights and in confined, often humid spaces.
Coordinate with contractors and inspect their work to authorise payments.
Attend and complete mandatory training provided by the healthcare organisation.Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

Certifications and Qualifications:

City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Craft Certificate or equivalent (NVQ 3, BTEC National, ONC/OND) certifications.
Recognized Plumbing apprenticeship.
Preferably (not essential) hold a certificate for commercial and domestic gas (Gas Safe registration) and have completed Health & Safety, Manual Handling, and Working at Heights training.Knowledge and Expertise:

Experienced with water and drainage systems.
Ability to perform tasks across multiple trades and learn new techniques.
Understanding of current water and drainage installation legislation, especially regarding legionella.
Experience operating and maintaining commercial and domestic gas plants and equipment.Personal Skills:

Ability to perform physical tasks, investigations, and repairs.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with colleagues, staff, and patients.
Ability to plan and manage ongoing maintenance and installation activities.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work in a customer-focused environment.
Valid UK driving license (Group A) and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
